I am missing the bar at the bottom of page view that says design, split,
code. It was there before I published the site and then gone after? What do
I do now?

It just means you don't have any pages open...

open a page... that bar only appears when a page is open...

Thank you for answering my question. I do have a page from my web site open
in frontpage. If I open a NEW page in the web it opens fine, but when I try
to open an existing page it comes up in code only. The bottom of most of the
pages have the design, split, code, preview. My frontpage does not have it
any more. I have run virus scan, and re installed frontpage and nothing
seems to help.

Does anyone have another suggestion?

Is it a javascript, vbscript or CSS file you've opened? - That would show
only the code and wouldn't have the options for "Split", "Design" or
"Code" - as there's no "Design" to be shown in "design view" in the normal
sense of the word as far as normal HTML files are concerned.

Your pages must be valid html content pages that are recognized by FP as such
- what extension do they have
- what happens when you right click and select Open w/ FP (as html)
