Frontpage Security

Can someone tell me the requirements to use the built in security of
Frontpage 2002? Will it run on a particular type of Windows platform, or just
Unix? It doesn't currently work on the site I have hosted with Verio. They
say it isn't supported in Windows. I want to require certain pages to be
accessed only with a user name and password. I've seen Microsoft's article to
create .asp pages using Access database but that seems overly complicated.
Thanks

To use the "built-in" security of FP, your web host must allow you to create a subweb and then set
unique permissions.

This works on both Windows and Unix/Linux, but is controlled by your web host

Thanks Thomas. Would you happen to have some recommendations for Web hosting
companies that would support that functionality in Frontpage? I'm surprised
Verio doesn't, because they are quite large.

You have to ask each web host if they allow this. You really should consider using database, because
that way you can keep a copy of your users, whereas when done on the server you will not have a
copy.
