I have had to get rid of frontpage due to a lot
of techincal issues with my host after six years
of use moving over to DW to try for a while

Does FP leave behind a lot of code that belongs
only to FP and is their a tool to search and remove

Appreciate any pointers please

PAUL

FP will leave soem things, such as meta tags usually on the page it's worked
on. These aren't much to worry about as they're really ignored by browsers.

What else it leaves depends upon what features you've used. If you've used
shared borders, you may want to redo them as dreamweaver templates and apply
the templates to all your pages. If you've used FP forms then you'll
definitely want to redesign them in Dreamweaver, usually to send information
to a database. If you send forms to email you'll have to come up with
another option as Dreamweaver doesn't have a native email handler.

Other than the component code used for the server extension features, FP
generates good code and shouldn't present any problems. I almost always use
multiple tools on a project and have worked with FP and Dreamweaver on the
same set of pages without issue. Dreamweaver is smart enough to leave
something alone that it doesn't recognize (well, usually) so you shouldn't
be forced to do a lot of repairing before you can get into design.

Hope this helps,

Hi Paul,

I am not slamming Dreamweaver...since it is a very fine product...however it
might be easier for you to find a different host that understands and
properly supports FrontPage...rather than switching from FrontPage to
Dreamweaver.

uninstall it as per the usual method(s) - Add/Remove Programs in Windows.

It doesn't touch any web sites you've created, if that's what you mean by
"leaving code behind".

Other than that it should completely uninstall the application.
