Could anybody tell me how best to compress photos in
Frontpage prior to publishing web?
 
FP doesn't really compress photos. If your photos are JPG format, then they
are already compressed to some extent. You can use a third-party photo
editor to save the file with a particular compression, but you really start
to drop off when you use about 10 to 20% compression. GIF isn't a
compressible file format. Basically, when you save an image as a jpg or gif
you need to optimize it before you get it into something like FP. FP can set
the compression for a JPG, but it lacks a lot of the better features of
third-party photo software and the photos end up looking terrible.
