Frontpage Hit Counters

I have a hit counter that is working, but it shows up on every page and
increments each time I visit any page. How can I restrict the hit counter to
the home page only?
 
Don't put it in any shared content areas or the pages
(like shared borders include pages or DWT non-editable regions)
then add it just to the home page
