I use FP without the extensions (uploading is done with Frontpage -
ftp). Some of my remote directories are protected and so they contain
filenames starting with a dot, like .htaccess etc.
FP wants to delete them each time I upload. Is there a way to prevent
this behaviour and tell FP that these files should remain untouched.
I can't copy the dot files to my local (windows) box, because the name
starts with a dot, windows doesn't accept...

FP has no settings to control this.

I guess M$ must have forgotten about this important feature; you can
mark files at the client side, so why not at the server side.....

You would have to have the FP extensions on the live/remote server for FP to be able to actually do
something with a file.
