Frontpage changing extensions?

I get a 404 - Page not found error.

If this is the HTML page you mention, then the cure is to add a mime
type to the server for .ims files. Without a mime type for the
extension the server will always deliver a 404 error instead of the
file.

Alternatively, place the .ims files in a .zip container, and link to the
..zip file.

Visitors to your site will need the application or a reader that understand the .ims file format. If
these are image files, then they need to be save as .jpg images from within the application that
created the .ims files.

The images on my page are hyperlinked to an .ims file. When the image is
clicked on the .ims file does not download. I assume the problem is that the
hyperlinks are not working. I have other files that are linked to .imf files
and they work fine. Why wont the links to the ims files not work?

In addition to Thomas' comments, you need to change the mime type that
is on the server. At the moment this appears to define .ims files as
text files, which is why they are opened by the browser as text - though
FireFox 3 does interpret the contents of the files as interesting
patterns...

From my end using IE7 I just get the asci or hex of the file but if I right
click on the picture I can save it as a gif file. Hummm?

I contacted my server and told them the information you gave me about the
mime problem. Then they got the problem solved.
Thanks to you all
