I was trying to publish my site to a new host which has FrontPage extensions.
I receive this error message every time (mysite is not the real name):

unable to open http://mysite.com
Server error: The Web server at "http://mysite.com" does not appear to have
Windows SharePoint services installed. Possible causes:
1.The web server may not have the FrontPage Server Extensions installed
2.the web server may be temporarily out of service
3.If you are connecting therough a proxy server, the proxy settings may be
incorrect
4.An error may have occured in the webserver

The tech guys at the hosting service even re-installed the FrontPage
extensions. I have no need for, and don't think I use any SharePoint stuff. I
unchecked the "Sharepoint Services" under authoring.

Make sure your URL is in the form http://www.mysite.com/
Also try to open it by browsing to it in IE and using File Edit w/ FP

I double checked and used the correct form, still getting the error. I'm not
totally clear on what I should be browsing to using IE.

Open the live/remote site in IE, then select File | Edit with FrontPage.
