I have a problem, blue screen unbootable boot.exe

I know it is fatal but before i lose all my hard work in my documents folder
by restoring the laptop can anyone PLEASE tell me to unlock it? Basically i
am running my laptops SATA Hard Drive through my wifes lappy on a USB2
interface so that I can download it onto my external Hard drive. However it
tells my username has no files. I know this is a clever ploy by Microsoft but
I would really like access to the 60GB of data before it is all gone and I
commit Hari Kari...

Anyone please help

You may have better results posting into the windowsxp newsgroup. This is
not a clever ploy by MS. The file systems used by modern OSes such as Win
XP, Unix, Mac, have permissions enabled on all the files. The hard drive
you're trying to access has been set to have only the user account on the
other computer be able to acecss it. Since user accounts on a computer are
local to that computer, you can't just use another "identical" user account
on another machine since each account has a different uniqueidentifier id.
What you can try to do is, if you can get the properties of the drive, go to
the Security tab, click the advanced button , then on the Advanced Security
Settings dialog click the Owner tab. You'll be able to choose a user account
that is on your wife's laptop as the new owner. Check the Replace owner on
subcontainers option and select apply. Hopefully (stress the hopefully) this
will grant you access.

FYI, if you don't see the Security tab on the hard drive property dialog
you'll need to open the Windows Explorer option by going to Tools | Folder
Options | View and uncheck the Use Simple File Sharing checkbox.
