I am running front page 2003. In the past there was no problem but now when I
create the gallery, The thumbnails do show up but when I click on the
thumbnails, it does not open the larger photo, Instead I get an error. Also
if I try to open a existing photogallery and add a photo to it , it stops
working. Could someone please tell me what is going on.

I am running my own web server and it had been running fine till this
morning and I could create photo galleries via frontpage 03 without a problem.

You are seeing what some people regard as normal operation for a FrontPage
gallery. Best advise is to start again with a third party gallery that
works, such as jAlbum (http://jalbum.net)

But it worked fine before this. Secondly is there a way to create
photogalleries in Expression web similar to Frontpage, if frongpage 2003 is
going to have such problems.

So basically you are saying there is no way to fix this problem that I am
facing in front page?

Sometimes redoing the gallery in FP will fix it, but be aware those
galleries in FP are balky at best and are not cross-browser compatible.

No...no gallery creator in EW.

Check out JAlbum (its free and easy) - there are other 3rd party galleries
as well.

"But it worked fine before this"
That is also normal. FrontPage galleries usually work first time, then
often break when you try to edit them. They are very, very fragile and not
generally recommended. The slideshow gallery only works (when it works) in
Internet Explorer.

*I* have never had a problem with any FrontPage gallery - but nowadays I
write my own galleries, and seeing the results of FrontPage efforts and
reading the difficulties many, many other users have I will never recommend
a FrontPage gallery.

As Rob said, Expression Web does not have this component, but will allow an
existing FrontPage gallery to be edited - with the same code and results
you would get using FrontPage.

I have redone the gallery, installed and reinstalled FP. Used the FP cleanup
utility but to no avail. When I go to check the page on the internet. This is
what is showing instead of the gallery :
[photogallery/photo00004045/photogallery/photo00004045/real.htm]

The second thing that I observed is on the Webserver when I click on the
default web site a window pops up saying"
Ms Server Extensions in the blue bar and then
The server administation programs and the server extensions on the web
server are not compatible. The administration program is too old to use with
this server.

I am running windows 2000 IIS server with Windows 2002 extensions. Could the
extension have gotten corrupted on the server side? Also the other web
galleries are running fine on the server without any problem that were
created with FP. Please help. Is the problem occuring on the Server side or
the FP side.

Thank you again

You are using the wrong program to administer the Extensions - That program
is for FrontPage 2000 extensions. (note: FrontPage extensions, not Windows
extensions).
FP2002 extensions are administered from the SharePoint Administration
pages.
In Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server (and presumably Windows 2000) these
are obtained from
Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Microsoft SharePoint Administrator

As for
[photogallery/photo00004045/photogallery/photo00004045/real.htm]
This is an indication that the extensions cannot find real.htm, because the
path is in twice.
Many users see this, even when they have working galleries in the same
*website*. The problem is most likely the extensions. Try recalculating
hyperlinks in FrontPage with the (server) website open, or recalculating
the web from the admin pages. The only effective cure appears to be -
start again, with no guarantees of success. You may need an update for the
extensions, but these are only supported on Windows 2003 and later windows
servers.
