Frontpage 2003 & CPU Usage

Greetings:

I'm having a problem with FP 2003. When I'm using Design mode, CPU usage
increases to 100% any time I attempt to do something (scroll, enter text,
etc). Needless to say, this *really* slows things down. I uninstalled FP,
ran MS Live One Care scanner and fixed some registry problems, re-installed
FP, but the problem persists.

I'm running XP on a 2.6 GHz machine with 1 GB memory.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks.

Mark:

Thanks for the suggestion. It sounded promising. Unfortunately, it didn't
work.

Check your fan. Mine went out, and I had the same issue when the CPU was
overheating. I ran adware/spyware scanners, antivirus (which also ran
incredibly slow, with CPU at 100%), did a disk defrag, disk diagnosis,
as did my computer repair guy--nothing. Replacing the fan cured it
immediately.

Another good suggestion - but that doesn't appear to be the problem. I
installed a hardware monitor to check CPU temps - they're normal during FP
usage (still trying to get the fan monitor to work!).

This problem seems to be worse on a certain pages - but even typing on a
blank page can send CPU usage as high as 40%. I'm wondering if it's related
to some setting for the graphics adapter.

Just guessing on possible causes
- Try disabling any FP addins
- Do you have View Reveal Tags turned on?
