I have a couple of customer web sites that use frames. In the original beta,
a preview would display the frame pages correctly. In the beta update/patch,
the preview does not display anything. The individual pages do display
correctly however.

Would someone else please try this and post the results?

Thanks, Mike

I have not problems opening a Frames site in FP2003 BTR and using Preview
Do you have Frames enabled in Tools Page Options Authoring

If so, Do you have a URL for one of the sites

This is funny.

I must remove one line of code from each page and they will display
perfectly in frames.

And that line of code is:

<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 6.0">

Short lived success. This fix only worked as long as I was previewing
unsaved pages. Once a page was saved to disk it could no longer be previewed
in the frames page.

Sounds more like a broken tag somewhere (missing a closing " or >)
Is the site published anywhere or can you post your frameset html code snippet

I can not follow your logic. These web sites display correctly in:

FrontPage 2000
FrontPage 2002
FrontPage 2003 Beta 2
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX

but not in:

FrontPage 2003 Beta 2 Tech. Refresh

Even so, I should see something on the screen even with bad code (generated
by FrontPage 2000 or 2002). When I apply XML formatting rules to the code I
would expect it to be cleaned up if their are errors.

My intention is to build a clean WinXp SP1 machine w/ FrontPage 2003 this
weekend. If it displays correctly at this point, I will see what happens as
restore the machine to it's present configuration.

As to existing web sites, try:

www.smcusa.biz (frames behind intro page)
www.ari-ipg.com
www.swscc.com

The only thing I can see common to all your frames is that you wrap all your pages in each frame (and most of your tables) in an
absolute positioned <div> tag (often smaller than your page / table content) and then insert a fixed px table - Try removing the
absolute positioning from your outer div tags

I had no problem in opening the frames in FP2003 and previewing them in Design or preview mode
Are you sure you have FRAMES and CSS turned on in Authoring under Tools Page Options compatibility (although I turned them off and
was still able to open view all OK)

Also when you installed the B2TR did you also install the MSO TR 1st (for the common items), then the FP TR

PS
Remove all spaces from File/Folder names and
You have some broken links to your hard disc at

Created new XP installation w/ SP1. Installed Office 2003 and then FP 2003.
Worked OK.

Downloaded 25mb of Windows update file, The display problem came back.

Finally, removed Q818529 and the problem when away. Tried several times,
always same result.

Mike

PS
Absolute vs. Relative link. Every time I changed it in FrontPage 2002,
FrontPage would change it back. Finally had to change it in Dreamweaver to
make it permanent.
