Front panel microphone and headphone doesn't work Win Vista, I have onboard
Realtek HD Audio ALC880, last driver version R1.88. So it work fine Win XP
only. I think Vista realtek driver hasn't full support of ALC880? :(

You need to go into audio setup. It has no auto detect and has to be
configured manually (from back to front, and visa-versa)

How disable auto detect? I can't find it my audio setup.

Go to: Control Panel > Sound > Recording and select the input source that
you want. If what you want is not in this list, then the hardware does not
support the option. There is NO auto detect in my options.

Likewise here. Auto detect is present in XP, missing in Vista.

Open the Realtek Sound Manager (icon in systray) and enable the front
connectors there. The rear connectors are probably set as the defaults.
Click Device Advanced Settings to enable display of all of the input-output
settings.

I am experiencing a similar problem with Realtek HD Manager. Please see below.
Back panel has three buttons:
Blue=Line In (Line In)
Green=Front Speakers Out (Speakers)
Pink=MicIn (Microphone)
Then: Front Panel has two buttons;
Green=Headphone (Speakers)
Pink=FrontIn (FrontMic) – This is my problem…
Now the question: How do I change front pink to MicIn Microphone instead of
FrontIn-FrontMic? I tried many times to right click on front panel pink
(Audio device settings), but it keeps going back to the FrontMic tab.
When I plug in the headset to the front, the computer recognizes the green
headset with a popup on the screen. But nothing happens when the pink plug
for the microphone is inserted to the front.
