Front Page crashing was only the beginning

I'm having a major problem here. The other day I was working on a few
things...most of them involving FP. Part of the programming I'm working on
deals with radio streaming. Due to the CPU usage, I generally have to stop
the streaming audio manger to work on the web using FP. This time I forgot
to stop the stream and the system locked up. I had to shut everything down
without using proper procedures. When I came back up everything worked
except FP. I initially just got error messages informing me that I was low
on virtual memory. Today I bumped this up and all though everything else ran
faster FP did not. It just hung there. I then tried the repair from my
disc. When this didn't work I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall. Now it
won't let me reinstall, stating that my system is missing something it needs
to do so. I can't remember what the something was, but I do know that I
should have everything FP would need to load. If anyone could point me in
the direction I need to look at to take of this situation, I'll be one very
happy guy. I still have a lot of work to do on my site and I really need FP
to do it.

You don't say what OS you're using or what version of FP, but I'd recommend
the following, all while disconnected from the internet:
1. Cold boot the computer into DOS and run Scandisk.
2. Upon boot, clean out your temp folder.
3. If you've got Office installed, do a detect-and-repair on Office.
4. Try to re-install

Then, tell us what it is that FP says you are missing.

I'm sorry that I didn't give enough information about what I have before. I was just very tired and frustrated. Anyway...I'm running XP home on a P4. The version of FP I have is 2002. As I mentioned, I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall. What I'm getting now is a "Product Compliance Check" pop up that says "Setup failed to locate a valid qualifying product on your machine. Please select the drive where qualifying product can be found". I never across this one before.

You have an upgrade version. You need to install the one you upgraded from, or place the old
version CD in the drive and point the computer to it when it asks for the qualifying version.

You are trying to install an upgrade version of FrontPage. The qualifying
product is a previous version - FP2000, FP98 etc. When the message appears,
place the earlier version in the CD drive.

Interesting page - it references a .PRF file, "PICS Rules File". If I've got
no restrictions on my Internet access, are these files safe to delete?
