Front Page adds thousands of blank lines after editing a page???

K

Ken

Anyone seen this before?
One of my clients keeps having this happen to him.
He'll insert some text into a table and after he saves
he notices that the page is slow to load.
When he looks at the html he finds up to a hundred thousand
blank lines inserted just after the header, not where he
was editing.

Any ideas or help getting rid of them quickly would be
greatly appreciated. His host doesn't support ftp or
I could run the page through an optimizer to get rid of
them. As it is now he has to go in and select them
carefully so as to not accidently wipe out part of the
page when deleting them.

I have never seen any version of FP do this, can your provide a URL to this
page?

These should be able to be deleted in Normal View in FP.

http://www.ecodevdirectory.com/iowa.htm
Shows some of it although it's only 100 lines or so on that
page ... not sure which one it happened to this time.
If I find it or talk to him again tommorow I'll post it.
Sometimes it only puts in a few hundred sometime 199k lines
or more. You can't see the lines in the normal view only
in the sorce code. The page content stays the same ...
It just causes longer load times.

Ken,

Can you attach the actual page to an email directly to me, as there has to
be a problem with the HTML on the pages that would cause this or the theme
corrupted.

Has the client tried apply another theme?

Also have the user try the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE
6) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, and MS Office

| The theme being corrupted was my best guess ...
| I'll send the source to you.
