I have created a web page and now want to change and add to it.
How do I get it back from the web site so I can alter it? What processes or
sequences do I follow? There are no answers anywhere I can find in the help
program. SWorry to be so naive. All the stuff tells you how to CREATE and
publish a web site but not how to modify it when created. Help please!jaxbox

Hi jaxbox,

If you have created the site locally and have published it to a server..then
you just keep doing the same thing. By that I mean make changes or additions
of new pages, etc. in your local web..and then when you are ready..you
publish again to the server.

You can either edit the page"live" by opening your web site, making the
change and saving the page, or you can publish it down to your Hard Drive,
make the change and then publish it back.

First, Open the live site
1. File, Open Site, http://www.yourdomain.com (put in your domain name)
2. Enter your user name and password

If you want to edit the site "live" stop here, make your changes and save
the page. Then your done. If you want to edit it locally go to the next
steps.

3. When the site opens choose File, Publish Site and put in the folder on
your hard drive where you want it to be. Ex: C:\MyWeb
4. Click Publish.

The site will publish to your PC. Now you open the local site
1. File, Open Site C:\MyWeb
2. Make your changes.
3. Save your pages.
4. Publish it back to your server. Choose File Publish Site,
http:\\www.yourdomain.com
5. Click Publish

Open the site "live" through Frontpage.

Go to File > Open Site, then type in the URL address to your web site (the
web address like www.yoursite.com.....).

Then enter your log on details.

Then when it has connected, open the individual pages, make the changes and
save.

Like many of us, you can open the local web on your PC, make the changes and
publish to the server. That would be the best way, since you will lose all
your work if your host systems go down for any reason - i.e., no back up if
you don't have a local copy on your PC.

To publish down to your PC, open the live site (as above) then go to File >
Publish site, and select a location on your C: drive (normally a subfolder
within "My Web Sites" but it's your choice, as long as you note where you
publish it to....)

So from then on you would work on the local copy, and publish the pages to
the server (File > Publish Site, then enter the http:// address, then log on
details (u/n & Pwd).

To modify the pages, simply open them, change them and save.

A good book reference is the "Frontpage Inside Out" series which is often
recommended here - you can find the edition for your version of Frontpage
from your bookstore or Amazon..com (etc) I expect. (The author is a
newsgroup member here, & and an MVP).
