I was just wondering if there was a way to turn the microphone detection back
on. I clicked the box to not show me again thinking that it would continue to
recognize my mic but I was wrong. For some reason it just stopped working
today.

thanks in advance

You may have disabled the codec that supports the microphone and other parts
of your sound system.

But if you have only just had this problem, why not use System Restore back
to a date when the sound worked properly?

But before you start, please disable any setting in any antivirus program,
such as Norton, whereby such program seeks to protect itself against an
outside attacker. If you don’t take this step, you may find that System
Restore fails to work properly.

If you try this first, please let us know whether it works for you.

Right click (not left click) the Speaker Icon in the lower right Taskbar.
Choose Recording Devices. Right click anywhere in the Window and select,
"Show Disabled Devices."
