I have a BE on the Server. FE's on client PC's. My question is can you use
Windows Authentication to control Security or do you have to create Access
Passwords? In active directory I have already created a group account for my
database. I want the users to be able to perform data entry on the forms but
not to be able to make any design changes nor do I want them to be able to
delete any tbls, forms, queries, or reports.

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm checking out your website now... its a lot to digest. Is there a
particular portion of the fact sheet that I should focus on?

How do I add the user accounts in Access? I thought that I had already
added them. It worked on one of the client PC's, but not the other. Each PC
has its own FE.

There's no quick fix I'm afraid and the FAQ is "all killer, no filler", you
need to follow all of the steps in the order stated. One of the first
things you need to do is create your own custom workgroup information file
(*.mdw) leaving the default "system.mdw" intact. That way you will always
be able to open "unsecured" apps without having to supply logon info. Your
custom mdw file will be needed for access by all users of your secure
database. It would typically be stored on a network server.

Good luck.
Keith.
