Here is something JS started to help me with & I Saved it to a Folder, but
as many things these days, forgot it. so I am reposting his help for me as I
started to do what he suggested, but am already hung up

Here's JS' post from 3/7/09. & in the reply post, I'll post where I am
stuck at

"OK, here is what you will need to download and install.

First there is a valuable utility from Aaron Stebner's blog.
"NET Framework setup verification tool"
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8999004.aspx
(See the download instructions on were to download
this file, the second link worked best for me)

Download this .Zip file and extract the file named:
netfx_setupverifier.exe and then run it.

It's been recently updated and now will only show
(in the pull down list) what versions are installed on your
PC more accurately then the Add/Remove listing.

So run it and use it to pick and choose the files you need
to install from the list I've provided below. I am assuming
that you have .Net 1.1 but not .Net 1.1 with Service Pack 1.
(Stebner's utility will verify my assumption). If Stebner's
utility does show .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 then you can
skip that item from the list below.

Note: If all of the 4 steps below, especially step 4 is a bit too much
for you and you have plenty of free disk space on your hard drive,
you can bit the bullet and install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Do this
by installing the file mentioned in step #1, then skip steps 2 to 4
and start at Step #5 below.

Also not to worry, I will show you in detail what you need to
know about the "Bootstrapper" below, when it's appropriate.

Download links and install in the order listed below:
1) Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (10.2 MB)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...4f-088e-40b2-bbdb-a83353618b38&displaylang=en
(Note: there is no bootstrapper download file for this service pack)
Choose the option to save the file to your hard drive,
When the download has complete, double click on the
file named: "NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe" to start the install.

2) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (23.8 MB - 122.3 MB*)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...58-915b-4eb5-9b1d-10e506da9d0f&displaylang=en
For your PC, scroll down the web page to the section titled:
"Files in This Download" and download the 23.8 MB file named:
NetFx20SP2_x86.exe and then install it.
*** Note: Ignore the note about "KB959209",
in the next step I'll show you how to only download what
you need and not .Net 3.5 since Net 3.5 is currently not installed
on your PC, you don't really need it.

3) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Family Update:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...54-6450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en
Note: Disregard the title of the article.
Scroll down the web page to the section titled: "Files in This Download"
32 Bit Windows download File is named = NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6MB)
Download and install this file.

4) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Read my article: http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkfamilyupdate.html
Scroll down the page to the section titled:
"How to skip NET 3.5 and install only the NET 3.0 SP2 with the 3.0 Family
update"

Your done except for step #6.

5) The quick way (but requires more disk space)
If you have chosen to skip steps 2 thru 4 above, remember step #1
is required using either way.

This is the whole package of updates which also includes
..NET Framework 3.5, read the instructions on this web
page as there are two parts (A & B) you need to do.

A) Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This "2.8 MB" download file is a "bootstrapper"
and will install only the components you need. It does the
download and install process all at the same time.
Note: Click the "Run" option when prompted.

B) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en

Scroll down to the section of the page titled:
"Files in This Download"
Click each of the three download buttons one at a time
starting with NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6 MB)
When the above install finishes then download/install
NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe (6.9 MB)
and finally the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe (1.4 MB)

6) Now use the Verification tool I mentioned above, if every
versions verifies your done.

Okay, I did all he suggested, up to the paragraph that begins with ")
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (10.2 MB"
I have the Net Framework Setup Verification Utility up & for>net Framework
1.1SP1 & it says Product Verification Failed. So I went to Step 1 below,
downloaded it & Installed it & got a verification that it was installed. Now
upon Refreshing the Add/Remove table, I don't see that D/L anywhere there!

What I see, in order are:

MS .Net Framework 1.1

MS .Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix(KB928366)

MS .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack & on from there - no MS .Net Framework
1.1 SP1(KB867460)

so what did I do wrong so far ?

thanks very much ia

Now, While I got a window that says it's Installed, I ran the Net Framework
Setup Verification Tool & again, it says Product Verification Failed -
aaaarrgghhh !

just so there's no confusion, it was I who forgot, not JS.

Thanks & is it just as you have it written ? sorry but will it be a
separate entry in the Add/Remove, NOT listed with the MS Framework, for 1,2
& 3 ? If so, it's not listed by itself. I'll try & insert a screen cap of
the Add/ Remove - thanks very much JS

okay, that was far too large to post here, so will try again. hmm, how do i
include the screen cap within & not attached ? i tried both Insert & the
paperclip Attach & either way, it adds it as an attachment.

i captured it using MS Paint & I can't seem to decrease the size of it. i
did Crop it down to a reasonable size, but apparently not enough -

for some reason, the Post I ad worked up w/ the screen cap enclosed, did
not post, even tho' it was in the Sent Folder!

Okay, I did all he suggested, up to the paragraph that begins with ")
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (10.2 MB"
I have the Net Framework Setup Verification Utility up & for>net
Framework 1.1SP1 & it says Product Verification Failed. So I went to
Step 1 below, downloaded it & Installed it & got a verification that it
was installed. Now upon Refreshing the Add/Remove table, I don't see
that D/L anywhere there!

What I see, in order are:

MS .Net Framework 1.1

MS .Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix(KB928366)

MS .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack & on from there - no MS .Net
Framework 1.1 SP1(KB867460)

so what did I do wrong so far ?

thanks very much ia

Here is something JS started to help me with & I Saved it to a Folder,
but as many things these days, forgot it. so I am reposting his help
for me as I started to do what he suggested, but am already hung up

Scroll down the web page to the section titled: "Files in This
Download"
32 Bit Windows download File is named = NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe
(8.6MB)
Download and install this file.

4) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Read my article:
http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkfamilyupdate.html
Scroll down the page to the section titled:
"How to skip NET 3.5 and install only the NET 3.0 SP2 with the 3.0
Family
update"

Your done except for step #6.

5) The quick way (but requires more disk space)
If you have chosen to skip steps 2 thru 4 above, remember step #1
is required using either way.

This is the whole package of updates which also includes
.NET Framework 3.5, read the instructions on this web
page as there are two parts (A & B) you need to do.

A) Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This "2.8 MB" download file is a "bootstrapper"
and will install only the components you need. It does the
download and install process all at the same time.
Note: Click the "Run" option when prompted.

B) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en

Scroll down to the section of the page titled:
"Files in This Download"
Click each of the three download buttons one at a time
starting with NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6 MB)
When the above install finishes then download/install
NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe (6.9 MB)
and finally the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe (1.4 MB)

6) Now use the Verification tool I mentioned above, if every
versions verifies your done.

Okay, I did all he suggested, up to the paragraph that begins with ")

I have the Net Framework Setup Verification Utility up & for>net

Step 1 below, downloaded it & Installed it & got a verification that
it was installed. Now upon Refreshing the Add/Remove table, I don't
see that D/L anywhere there!

What I see, in order are:

MS .Net Framework 1.1

MS .Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix(KB928366)

MS .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack & on from there - no MS .Net

so what did I do wrong so far ?

thanks very much ia

Here is something JS started to help me with & I Saved it to a
Folder, but as many things these days, forgot it. so I am reposting
his help for me as I started to do what he suggested, but am already
hung up

Here's JS' post from 3/7/09. & in the reply post, I'll post where I
am stuck at

Note: If all of the 4 steps below, especially step 4 is a bit too
much
for you and you have plenty of free disk space on your hard drive,
you can bit the bullet and install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Do this
by installing the file mentioned in step #1, then skip steps 2 to 4
and start at Step #5 below.

Scroll down the web page to the section titled: "Files in This
Download"
32 Bit Windows download File is named = NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe
(8.6MB)
Download and install this file.

4) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Read my article:
http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkfamilyupdate.html
Scroll down the page to the section titled:
"How to skip NET 3.5 and install only the NET 3.0 SP2 with the 3.0
Family
update"

Your done except for step #6.

5) The quick way (but requires more disk space)
If you have chosen to skip steps 2 thru 4 above, remember step #1
is required using either way.

This is the whole package of updates which also includes
.NET Framework 3.5, read the instructions on this web
page as there are two parts (A & B) you need to do.

A) Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This "2.8 MB" download file is a "bootstrapper"
and will install only the components you need. It does the
download and install process all at the same time.
Note: Click the "Run" option when prompted.

B) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en

Scroll down to the section of the page titled:
"Files in This Download"
Click each of the three download buttons one at a time
starting with NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6 MB)
When the above install finishes then download/install
NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe (6.9 MB)
and finally the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe (1.4 MB)

6) Now use the Verification tool I mentioned above, if every
versions verifies your done.

Here is something JS started to help me with & I Saved it to a
Folder, but as many things these days, forgot it. so I am
reposting his help for me as I started to do what he suggested,
but am already hung up

Here's JS' post from 3/7/09. & in the reply post, I'll post where
I am stuck at

Note: If all of the 4 steps below, especially step 4 is a bit too
much
for you and you have plenty of free disk space on your hard drive,
you can bit the bullet and install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Do this
by installing the file mentioned in step #1, then skip steps 2 to
4
and start at Step #5 below.

(Note: there is no bootstrapper download file for this service
pack)
Choose the option to save the file to your hard drive,
When the download has complete, double click on the
file named: "NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe" to start the install.

2) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (23.8 MB - 122.3
MB*)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...58-915b-4eb5-9b1d-10e506da9d0f&displaylang=en

Scroll down the web page to the section titled: "Files in This
Download"
32 Bit Windows download File is named = NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe
(8.6MB)
Download and install this file.

4) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Read my article:
http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkfamilyupdate.html
Scroll down the page to the section titled:
"How to skip NET 3.5 and install only the NET 3.0 SP2 with the 3.0
Family
update"

Your done except for step #6.

5) The quick way (but requires more disk space)
If you have chosen to skip steps 2 thru 4 above, remember step #1
is required using either way.

This is the whole package of updates which also includes
.NET Framework 3.5, read the instructions on this web
page as there are two parts (A & B) you need to do.

A) Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This "2.8 MB" download file is a "bootstrapper"
and will install only the components you need. It does the
download and install process all at the same time.
Note: Click the "Run" option when prompted.

B) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en

Scroll down to the section of the page titled:
"Files in This Download"
Click each of the three download buttons one at a time
starting with NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6 MB)
When the above install finishes then download/install
NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe (6.9 MB)
and finally the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe (1.4 MB)

6) Now use the Verification tool I mentioned above, if every
versions verifies your done.

Okay, I did all he suggested, up to the paragraph that begins

I have the Net Framework Setup Verification Utility up & for>net

verification that it was installed. Now upon Refreshing the
Add/Remove table, I don't see that D/L anywhere there!

Here is something JS started to help me with & I Saved it to a
Folder, but as many things these days, forgot it. so I am
reposting his help for me as I started to do what he suggested,
but am already hung up

Here's JS' post from 3/7/09. & in the reply post, I'll post
where I am stuck at

Note: If all of the 4 steps below, especially step 4 is a bit
too much
for you and you have plenty of free disk space on your hard
drive,
you can bit the bullet and install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Do
this
by installing the file mentioned in step #1, then skip steps 2
to 4
and start at Step #5 below.

For your PC, scroll down the web page to the section titled:
"Files in This Download" and download the 23.8 MB file named:
NetFx20SP2_x86.exe and then install it.
*** Note: Ignore the note about "KB959209",
in the next step I'll show you how to only download what
you need and not .Net 3.5 since Net 3.5 is currently not
installed
on your PC, you don't really need it.

3) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Family Update:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...54-6450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en
Note: Disregard the title of the article.
Scroll down the web page to the section titled: "Files in This
Download"
32 Bit Windows download File is named =
NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6MB)
Download and install this file.

4) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Read my article:
http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkfamilyupdate.html
Scroll down the page to the section titled:
"How to skip NET 3.5 and install only the NET 3.0 SP2 with the
3.0 Family
update"

Your done except for step #6.

5) The quick way (but requires more disk space)
If you have chosen to skip steps 2 thru 4 above, remember step
#1
is required using either way.

This is the whole package of updates which also includes
.NET Framework 3.5, read the instructions on this web
page as there are two parts (A & B) you need to do.

A) Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This "2.8 MB" download file is a "bootstrapper"
and will install only the components you need. It does the
download and install process all at the same time.
Note: Click the "Run" option when prompted.

B) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en

Scroll down to the section of the page titled:
"Files in This Download"
Click each of the three download buttons one at a time
starting with NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6 MB)
When the above install finishes then download/install
NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe (6.9 MB)
and finally the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe (1.4 MB)

6) Now use the Verification tool I mentioned above, if every
versions verifies your done.

Okay, I did all he suggested, up to the paragraph that begins
with ") Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (10.2 MB"
I have the Net Framework Setup Verification Utility up &
for>net Framework 1.1SP1 & it says Product Verification Failed.
So I went to Step 1 below, downloaded it & Installed it & got a
verification that it was installed. Now upon Refreshing the
Add/Remove table, I don't see that D/L anywhere there!

What I see, in order are:

MS .Net Framework 1.1

MS .Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix(KB928366)

MS .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack & on from there - no MS .Net
Framework 1.1 SP1(KB867460)

so what did I do wrong so far ?

thanks very much ia

Here is something JS started to help me with & I Saved it to a
Folder, but as many things these days, forgot it. so I am
reposting his help for me as I started to do what he
suggested, but am already hung up

Here's JS' post from 3/7/09. & in the reply post, I'll post
where I am stuck at

(Note: there is no bootstrapper download file for this service
pack)
Choose the option to save the file to your hard drive,
When the download has complete, double click on the
file named: "NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe" to start the install.

2) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (23.8 MB -
122.3 MB*)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...58-915b-4eb5-9b1d-10e506da9d0f&displaylang=en
For your PC, scroll down the web page to the section titled:
"Files in This Download" and download the 23.8 MB file named:
NetFx20SP2_x86.exe and then install it.
*** Note: Ignore the note about "KB959209",
in the next step I'll show you how to only download what
you need and not .Net 3.5 since Net 3.5 is currently not
installed
on your PC, you don't really need it.

3) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Family Update:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...54-6450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en
Note: Disregard the title of the article.
Scroll down the web page to the section titled: "Files in This
Download"
32 Bit Windows download File is named =
NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6MB)
Download and install this file.

4) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Read my article:
http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkfamilyupdate.html
Scroll down the page to the section titled:
"How to skip NET 3.5 and install only the NET 3.0 SP2 with the
3.0 Family
update"

Your done except for step #6.

5) The quick way (but requires more disk space)
If you have chosen to skip steps 2 thru 4 above, remember step
#1
is required using either way.

This is the whole package of updates which also includes
.NET Framework 3.5, read the instructions on this web
page as there are two parts (A & B) you need to do.

A) Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This "2.8 MB" download file is a "bootstrapper"
and will install only the components you need. It does the
download and install process all at the same time.
Note: Click the "Run" option when prompted.

B) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en

Scroll down to the section of the page titled:
"Files in This Download"
Click each of the three download buttons one at a time
starting with NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6 MB)
When the above install finishes then download/install
NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe (6.9 MB)
and finally the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe (1.4 MB)

6) Now use the Verification tool I mentioned above, if every
versions verifies your done.

Aaaron has recently updated his "Verification" tool:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2009/07/27/9850215.aspx

Download and run the latest version and report your findings
(Pass or Fail) for each version of .NET you installed.

Sorry for all the legwork but I'm trying to save you from
the typical answer of "uninstall and re-install each version
of .NET". Please don't jump the gun as uninstalling should be
done in a very specific manner.

Okay, I did all he suggested, up to the paragraph that begins
with ") Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (10.2 MB"
I have the Net Framework Setup Verification Utility up &
for>net Framework 1.1SP1 & it says Product Verification
Failed. So I went to Step 1 below, downloaded it & Installed
it & got a verification that it was installed. Now upon
Refreshing the Add/Remove table, I don't see that D/L anywhere
there!

What I see, in order are:

MS .Net Framework 1.1

MS .Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix(KB928366)

MS .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack & on from there - no MS
.Net Framework 1.1 SP1(KB867460)

so what did I do wrong so far ?

thanks very much ia

Here is something JS started to help me with & I Saved it to
a Folder, but as many things these days, forgot it. so I am
reposting his help for me as I started to do what he
suggested, but am already hung up

Here's JS' post from 3/7/09. & in the reply post, I'll post
where I am stuck at

Note: If all of the 4 steps below, especially step 4 is a bit
too much
for you and you have plenty of free disk space on your hard
drive,
you can bit the bullet and install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Do
this
by installing the file mentioned in step #1, then skip steps
2 to 4
and start at Step #5 below.

(Note: there is no bootstrapper download file for this
service pack)
Choose the option to save the file to your hard drive,
When the download has complete, double click on the
file named: "NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe" to start the
install.

2) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (23.8 MB -
122.3 MB*)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...58-915b-4eb5-9b1d-10e506da9d0f&displaylang=en
For your PC, scroll down the web page to the section titled:
"Files in This Download" and download the 23.8 MB file named:
NetFx20SP2_x86.exe and then install it.
*** Note: Ignore the note about "KB959209",
in the next step I'll show you how to only download what
you need and not .Net 3.5 since Net 3.5 is currently not
installed
on your PC, you don't really need it.

3) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Family Update:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...54-6450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en
Note: Disregard the title of the article.
Scroll down the web page to the section titled: "Files in
This Download"
32 Bit Windows download File is named =
NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6MB)
Download and install this file.

4) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Read my article:
http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkfamilyupdate.html
Scroll down the page to the section titled:
"How to skip NET 3.5 and install only the NET 3.0 SP2 with
the 3.0 Family
update"

Your done except for step #6.

5) The quick way (but requires more disk space)
If you have chosen to skip steps 2 thru 4 above, remember
step #1
is required using either way.

This is the whole package of updates which also includes
.NET Framework 3.5, read the instructions on this web
page as there are two parts (A & B) you need to do.

A) Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This "2.8 MB" download file is a "bootstrapper"
and will install only the components you need. It does the
download and install process all at the same time.
Note: Click the "Run" option when prompted.

B) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en

Scroll down to the section of the page titled:
"Files in This Download"
Click each of the three download buttons one at a time
starting with NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe (8.6 MB)
When the above install finishes then download/install
NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe (6.9 MB)
and finally the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe (1.4 MB)

6) Now use the Verification tool I mentioned above, if every
versions verifies your done.

Aaaron has recently updated his "Verification" tool:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2009/07/27/9850215.aspx

Download and run the latest version and report your findings
(Pass or Fail) for each version of .NET you installed.

Sorry for all the legwork but I'm trying to save you from
the typical answer of "uninstall and re-install each version
of .NET". Please don't jump the gun as uninstalling should be
done in a very specific manner.

5) The quick way (but requires more disk space)
If you have chosen to skip steps 2 thru 4 above, remember
step #1
is required using either way.

This is the whole package of updates which also includes
.NET Framework 3.5, read the instructions on this web
page as there are two parts (A & B) you need to do.

A) Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en
This "2.8 MB" download file is a "bootstrapper"
and will install only the components you need. It does the
download and install process all at the same time.
Note: Click the "Run" option when prompted.

B) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...450b0212565&displaylang=en&displaylang=en

"Files in This Download"

NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe (6.9 MB)
and finally the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe (1.4 MB)

Hi JS,

Don't be sorry as I am grateful fotr your help - I wish I could help you,
help me
1.1 SP1
2.0 SP2
3.0 SP2
3.5 SP1

Using all 4 of these from the tool's pull down, they all failed. And here
is a sampling from the log for the failure of 3.5 SP1:
< Snipped>

With that many failures if it were my PC I'd start as follows:

Using Add/Remove, start by uninstalling
the highest version (3.5 SP1) and work down
to the lowest version in the liat ( 1.1 SP1) as follows:

1) Uninstall 3.5 SP1.
2) Repeat step #1 for 3.0 SP2, 2.0 SP2 and 1.1 SP1
the after all versions have been removed use Aaron Stebner's
cleanup tool: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/05/30/611355.aspx

3) Removed any remaing folders files located in the folders
listed below:
C:\WINDOWS\assembly\.......
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322
C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.0
C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5

When your done deleting all you should have is:
C:\WINDOWS\assembly\
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\
C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\

4) Run Microsoft's MSI Zap Utility:
Where to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:
(File name is: msicuu2.exe)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
or use the direct link to the MS Download site:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-.../msicuu2.exe

Using MSIZAP Step by Step:
First: Open a command window:
Next: Change the default folder to:
C:\Program Files\Windows Installer Clean Up>
Then: At the command prompt enter:
msizap !g > zapresults.txt
Press the 'Enter' key.

The results will be stored in the file named
zapresults.txt, open this file with Notepad
and you will see a list of files that have
been deleted.

5) Reinstall .Net http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkpart2.html
Skip .NET 1.0 since you never had it installed as far as I know.
Start with .Net 1.1 and work you way up to 3.5 SP1

Note: This time around use the small "bootstrap" download file
"whenever available" (located in the "Quick Details" section ) in
each version's download page for each version you are installing.

Where to download the .Net Redistributables:
http://www.pagestart.com/netframeworkdwnldlinks.html

After you have completed, run Windows Update to see
if there are any updates or patches avaialble for any of the
versions of .NET you installed

Yes, certainly.

You can install each version at your convenience.

Just keep in mind that if a software application
requires .NET 2.0 and you haven't installed it yet,
it may no run properly until you do install 2.0.

Hope your feeling better soon.
