Fried drive recovery?

I run XP home with a 40gig boot drive and a 120gig data drive. I
decided to hack my tivo, so I pulled the drives and did all the linux
stuff required to get my tivo to where I want it to be.

When I put my original two drives back in XP no longer sees the 120 gig
drive. Jumpers are correct, cable is good, but it doesn't mount. I
get the "found new hardware" announcement and it correctly identifies
the make/model of the drive.
Is there any way to recover stuff off the disc?

So something must have changed. You may need to research that first.

Run the non-destructive hardware diagnostic for the drive.

If the drive tests OK you can try the usual filesystem recovery softwares.

From your description the hardware is likely undamaged.

Probably you changed something. Maybe check whether Linux sees the
partitions and files (if no linux on PC then use, e.g.
Knoppix). Linux will also give you better diagnostics in this type of
situation.
