With all the issues my laptop was having, I wanted to
start fresh with a new copy of XP Pro, expecting it to
wipe my hard drive clean if I selected the complete (non-
upgrade) install.

I was wrong.

Can someone tell me how to totally wipe my hard drive
clean, but still then be able to boot up and use my CD
Rom to install XP Pro?

I had done this with win 2000, creating a boot disc, but
I couldn't find that same feature with XP.

Tony, the XP CD is bootable. You may have to go into your BIOS to set the CD
drive as the first boot device, then boot from the XP CD. It has all the
tools to partition and format your hard drive. Follow the screen prompts.

Do a search on www.google.com for a little proggie called WDClear.....it
will write zeros to your HDD just like brand new.....and it will tell you if
you have any errors on it. also have a win98 bootdisk handy.....i always
have one for a standbye.......
check out www.bootdisk.com also...they have a few things there to help ya.
