I want to reformat my hard drive and then install my
Windows XP Home Edition software. Where do I get the
procedure?

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary to
partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow Windows XP
to partition and format your drive:

1. Open your BIOS and set your CD Drive as the first bootable device.
2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your omputer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. After installing Windows XP, be sure and visit the support website of
the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any available
Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter and audio drivers.

Thanks Chris - your advice worked just perfect...now why
wouldn't the basic instructions that came with the MS
package outline a fresh install like it does with the old
Windows ME edition??? Thanks again,

I did all of the above and I still found some files hidden in my computer that
I had installed years ago and also after I even did everything that the above
said. Somebody told me that it was because the above is not a reformat, but
rather a new install. Any suggestions? Why are these programs still on my computer
in hidden files? They are not visible, but if I use certain programs to find
them, then they will show up. They are not sophicated programs either, these
are just everyday freeware programs that I can get online, such as "tweak ui".
and "tracks eraser". and other ones that clean my cache. Any suggestions? Thanks

Craig
