Hello -

I am using win2k + service pack 3.
I faced some virus related problems yesterday and decided eventually that it
would be better if I install the OS afresh on C:\WINNT.
I did not take a backup of the registry before going in for a fresh install.
I have lot of programs sitting in C:\Program Files from the previous install
which I could use without re-installing each one of them. Can someone tell
me how I can do it?

Regards,

Please get your terminology correct! A fresh install means
to wipe out the previous install via a format, and start
FRESH. I'm not trying to speak down to you!

if installing over a previous install, you will still have
traces of the older install lingering.

So my question is this, what exactly are you trying to do?
a fresh install requires a reinstall of all those software
packages previously installed.

I would hope you did a backup of your data, before the
FRESH install, Not the programs they can just be
reinstalled, just the data!
