Hi,
I've just made a new computer, and I successfully installed a new
OS, but then there's a frequent lock up during windows startup.... sometimes
it locks up at the very front page --> "ASUS P4S800 page" which is before
the POST screen. Why is that?? I've
tested out every hardware, (hard disk, ram, video card, cd-rom, except cpu
and motherboard), and they works fine on the other computer, but not this
one, what could be the cause of the problem? Thx.

Adrian

If it is locking up before windows loads, the problem almost certainly isn't
Windows.

Is your power supply of adequate size?

Yes, the powersupply is 400W, it should have no problem at all. And it's
brand new. What else could be the problem? Thx.

So you've run Memtest like I suggested then?

Hi,
the test is still running.... it take ages....
Will the test tell me whether the hardwares are incompatible or not? Coz
it seems to me that there's no fault in the hardware... I will make another
post once the test finish. Thx.

Yes, it does take ages, that's why I suggested that you run it overnight.
Memtest doesn't test for compatibility, it tests the fitness of the RAM. I
suggest you go back to the website and read the FAQ.

Hi,
The test seems never end... I've check the mobo menu, my RAM isn't in the
recommeded list, will there be any problem? And what else could be the
problem, I want to get this done as soon as possible, should I replace the
video card? I am sure the CPU and mobo are compatible since I have tried
this combination beforehand. So what else could be the problem? Thx..

Adrian

Actually, have you tried out the Ultimate bootdisk before? I just burn it
into the cd-rom, but it doesn't boot, do you know why? Thx.
