Hi
The sound drivers may be not properly installed
Go to creative.com to download the latest XP drivers for your sound card and save it to a specific folder(do not save it to desktop
CARE: make sure to download the correct drivers version
Go to add or remove program to remove the existing sound drivers and then reboot
Check to ensure now your system is stable
Temporarily disable the antiVirus application and then install the sound drivers then reboot
Hope it helps
Pete
