Freezing

I am having an annoying time with windows freezing up, going blank
screen,then re-appearing with windows merging with those beneath. I have
cleared history, cache, cookies. It is even happening on this site! I run
Norton antivirus which is up to date.
Help please!

Do you have an overheating issue? Check that fans are clean and running
correctly.

The degradation of display coupled with erratic blanking of the screen
could point to a problem with the display adapter. Some things to check or
try:

Check connections: Check on both ends monitor and the case. If not using
onboard video chip (have a separate display card), try reseating it.

Check that your desktop settings (size, color and refresh rate) are within
the capabilities of *both* the adapter and the monitor.

Reinstall display drivers -or- seek out updated drivers to install.

Try a different display card.

If you are not comfortable working with your hardware, have the system
checked by a repair shop.
