I can access web pages from the address bar but if I try
to click on a link from a search engine eg Google, Dogpile
or altavista, screen freezes and I have to ctr, alt, delete.
to close browser. I have tried doing a repair to explorer6
but I get the same fault. What could be causing this
problem

Dinah,
The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).
