Word freezing when open word docs from mapped drive

some time when open words docs from our file server it ll be freezing , but all the time we could open it smoothly but i couldn't determine when it ll be freezing .
and the problem appear also when i try to attache from server (not all the time)
and when i am try to copy files in the same mapped drive it will take much time (not all the time)

the problem is new because every thing was going will before.

many users have the same problem.

file server : 2003 , ms sql 2000 and 2005 installed on it and bitdefender management installed on it

please help
 
H ekader, welcome to the forums :).

There are many things that could cause slow file opening from a network server - some things I can think of to check would be:
  • Is the server overloaded or performing intensive operations at the same time?
  • Make sure the disk the file is located on isn't in sleep mode, as this would take a good few seconds to bring online when the file is requested. My own NAS does this, as one disk is rarely used and it often takes ~8 seconds to open any small file.
  • Is your AV scanner set to an aggressive mode?

thanks alot but the problem didnt occure befor ,i uninstalled the office that installed at the server and the part of problem solved , but it still slow when attaching from the shared(not all the time).
the problem only with office docs
