Hi,
I couldent find a group for shrarepoint designer so I put here. For some
reason whenever I try to publish to my IX webhosting server with ftp it
frezes. It doesnt freaz until I actualy click publish and the dialog windows
come up with the conflict or no sharepoint extensions. Not until it actualy
starts publishing. It lists the contents of the server in the right window.

It's a known bug. Try changing the Internet Explorer settings from Passive
FTP to active, or vice-versa.
In IE, Tools->Internet Options - Advanced Tag
Look for "Use Passive FTP ..." and change the setting.

It works for some, but not all.

This sort of sucks, Im running vista and IE doesnt work most of the time on
my computer so is there a way this can be done in vista or Firefox.

The FTP method in EWD (Expression Web Designer) and SPD (SharePoint
Designer) is controlled by the setting in Internet Explorer(in fact, a
large amount of page rendering in these applications is courtesy of IE).
Using another browser will not change the way SPD acts.
As Tom implied, you could use any FTP application to publish your site -
but only SPD or EWD will allow remote editing, if it can be made to work.

FYI, it does not work for me with IE6 or IE7 running on Windows XP Pro.

Yeh I can change internet options from the control pannel and I tried and it
actualy starts publishing but freezes during the publish. Also im not using
any of she sharepoint features except the dynamic templates bcs everything
else is done with java if that for whatever weird reason has to do with ftp
not working. Also is there another application, if I cant get this to work,
that I can put in the files and it just uploads what is new instead of
uploading everything bcs just the src files take a couple hours for my site
bcs of the sub-domains.
