freezes when searching in google and yahoo

Mikek

I am running Windows XP Iternet - explorer 6 My PC
freezes whenever I do a search in Google or Yahoo. I have
to control alt delete to recover after each search. I've
run adaware, spybot, and Norton... defragmented, reloaded
explorer. I am desperate. This only occurs in Explorere.
In Netscape everything works fine. Is anyone else having
this problem. I have 2 computers on a home network and
they are both having the same problem.

I am having the same exact problem. I have done
everything you have and cant seem to find an answer.
Someone has the same problem that posted on the 18th. He
has gotten some responses but none have worked. Please
keep me posted if you find an answer as well as I will do
the same for you.

Regards,
Rich

I am having a similar problem. I am also running XP and
IE6. Just recently when I try any search - on Yahoo,
Google, etc. - IE freezes. I have no problem in going to
a web page when I know the address and can type it in. I
have reset all defaults in IE and Norton and also tried
adaware and Norton scans. This is a very frustrating
problem.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.

I have had this same problem for the past two weeks. Never had a problem
before this. Cannot use any search engine without an eventual freeze up of
the entire computer. Using XP and IE 6. Have re-installed IE 6 to no
avail. Please help. Very frustrating.

Used all the spyware cleaning software, then tried to run search in IE6.
Got a freeze up right away. Any other suggestions ?

Your mileage may vary

I followed Frank's directions regarding SpyBot, Ad-Aware, and CW
Shredder (below), but had no luck. I got lazy and did not post the
HijackThis log for comment.

I also had a problem with accessing the 'Tools' to check my homepage,
etc., so I used a msvp 'registry solution' to correct that problem.
Once I could get back at the tools menu, I deleted all the cookies and
files, and checked the downloaded program files (Tools, Internet
Options, Settings, View Objects).

Two of the files were listed as 'damaged', so I deleted them.

Google works again :) although your mileage may vary.

Good luck

Hi:

I also am having the same problem using search engines. I just posted to
this group and then saw this post. Sorry.

What are these objects and can the damaged objects just be deleted?
