Freezes when 2nd window opens

Everytime I click on a link that opens in a new window, my
whole IE freezes, and i have to close it with task manager
(message says not responding). i've downloaded all
available patches....and i've uninstalled and
re-installed....nothing seems to work and it is driving me
nuts!!!! I'm running XP, and i've tried the repair feature
in add/remove programs, but that didn't help either. if
anyone knows how to fix this, please, please let me
know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same thing happens to me!! but on W2k.
any ideas, anyone?
I have all patches... al security fixes... everything.
