Freeze Powerpoint screen to make updates (during presentation)

I have not seen the answer to this question yet:

Is there a way to freeze a powerpoint presentation (while projecting it) to make updates to other slides in the presentation?

In other words, can you make last minute updates to a presentation while you're presenting it?
