I have a K7M MB. Seems older now with it's Slot A athlon. Anyway, I did a
clean install of WinXP and it seems to run fine until a lot of disk writing
is going on. Like during the install of the apps I need back in. The machine
stops responding. When you hit the hardware reset the power up bios message
indicates that the HDs aren't detected. Killing the power for 30 seconds
resolves the issue. It sounds like a bios problem to me and I loaded the
most recent one I could find. Please if you have any thoughts other than a
newer MB let me know. Thanks!

What power supply do you have ? Can you try another? In my experience this
board likes a good bit of juice that doesnt fluctuate too much. Also try
turning off as many spare on board devices as possible. ie com ports, audio
and any spare usb ports, its a very picky board and everything seems to
conflict with each other, even under XP.

Thanks for the thoughts. I got about 10 hours into trouble shooting and got
a new MB. At least the install and setup was easy.
Thanks again.
