Hello,
My pc freezes on the first screen that appears. ( Asus Logo ) At first, the monitor would just go off, but now it just freezes. Any idea why this would happen?
Thanks, John

Try checking all connections are sound. Makes sure all memory modules are inserted properly

Does it just freeze and hold at logo or reboot after a while?

Checked all connections and memory modules. All are tight.
It just stayed at logo. I figured that after 5-10 minutes, two or three times, it wasn't going to start.
At first, the monitor would come on for about two seconds and then shut off. I could turn it on and off several times to get it to stay on. After that is when it started showing the motherboard logo and freezing there. If I put it on standby, it will come back up normally. I tried a different monitor and had the same results.

Disconnect all power & ribbon/sata cables from your hard drives and CD drives ... reboot.

Let us know what happens and what you see on screen.

You do not have a monitor problem. :thumb:

:D

That's a little scarey, but I'll give it a try. Do I reboot with them unplugged, shut down, plug them back in, reboot again? Also, It came out of standby just fine yesterday after ten minutes of being shut down, but overnight, it came on and the monitor kept going off.
Thanks, John

Shutdown, unplug from the wall socket, then disconnect the cables ... mark them if you wish to make sure you can reconnect the right way round.

With the cables disconnected, replug in to the wall socket and power on ... I'm just trying to eliminate any HD problems.

I unplugged all and plugged them back in. It booted up fine. If it acts up again, I will boot up before I plug them back in. Thanks and have a great fathers day,
John

Sorry so long to get back to you. I tried this, but, I think I forgot to unplug the HD. I still have the same problem. So I'll try it again and unplug all things. Note: I can get past the motherboard splash screen sometimes if I shut down by switching off my pc with the off switch and boot up a few times real fast. I know it's the wrong way to do it but I work with this pc and need it to be working most of the day. I guess I could just leave it on til it dies.:)
Thanks, John

OK, I unplugged everything, booted up and got the same thing. Motherboard screen.
ASUS
P5VD2-MX-SE
Also, at the bottom of te screen it says, hit tab for setup hit del for bios.
Then I get a black screen that says Boot and select proper boot device
Insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key
