Freeze and soundloop with onboard Realtek High Definition Audio

I have a serious problem. The Realtek Sound Control cannot load, and if i
play MP3 files for more than approx. 30 minutes the computer freezes and
goes into a sound loop, which i only can stop by turning of the computer on
the switch on the back of the computer. Im using Windows Vista RC 1 Build
5600.

Is your sound driver the one that came with Vista? Is Device Manager showing
Unknown device(s) or Exclamation Points, etc.?

No. It was an update from Windows Ultimate Extras (Windows Update),
I think. But before that, there was no sound at all.

Hi Rasmus,

The Realtek High Definition Audio driver from Microsoft is kind of weak, and
doesn't give the correct options in the Sound control panel. Go to this
page, and download the Vista Beta driver (2006/9/28):

As I recall, it's kind of tricky to get it installed. Once downloaded,
unblock it by right-clicking the Zip file and choosing Properties
(Unblock>Apply>OK) on the General tab. Extract the zip file and run
Setup.exe by right-clicking on it and choosing Run as Administrator.

If the installation was successful, you should see driver version
6.0.1.5302, dated 9/27/2006, in Device Manager for Realtek High Definition
Audio (Driver Details should show ten files). If this is not the case, you
will have to update the driver manually by directing the Update Driver wizard
to C:\Program Files\Realtek\InstallShield. Let me know if you have any
questions.

Thanks! It helped. Actually, it wasn't tricky to install. I just
double-clicked on it after
download, and the update was installed with no hickup; that was it.

Unfortunately it happened again. It seems like the soundloop and freeze
happens
after a given amount of played mp3's strangely ??
