I'm curiuos to know why people write freeware, when in this way they
earn nothing. Couldn't that people do the same things earning?

What can be the purpose of a freeware programmer?

Thanks

Couple of reason I can think of.

They learn from it
They enjoy programming
Money isn't a primary focus in their life
They enjoy helping others

It's fun, it's a good hobby.

It's a good way to learn programming.

It's an excellent way to build up a user base for future commercial
programs.

It's a good way to build a resume for a future programming job.

Sometimes authors sell the rights to Freeware for MILLIONS. (a good example
is Justin, who sold WinAmp to AOL for a gazillion bucks!)

Some authors are just NICE, and like to donate their work.

Aside from that, I dunno! :)
