Hi,

I need an app which will be able to turn of display when pressing a hotkey
(or with a button on user interface, doesn't matter).
I just to turn it off exactly as Suspend does (but actually without entering
suspend state)

Regards,
Bogdan

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Power Management

Doesn't work from a hotkey, but you can set it's delay time (i.e. have it
turn it off when the PC is inactive for 1 minute).

Wizmo. You can create a shortcut on desktop to turn off monitor (wizmo.exe
quiet monoff) and associate a hotkey with it.

finger - insert into switch and press until it goes off!!!

I am not sure, is freeware a shortcut for "free software" or "free
hardware" ? :)

Neither.

"freeware" (as far as I am concerned) means software that does NOT;

1. Require payment (of any description)
2. Does not require registration
3. Does not contain adverts
4. Does not contain "bundleware" or spyware/malware
5. Is not time or function limited

Can't you just press the "Sleep" button from the keyboard?
(Well if you using the ATX factor motherboard)

Very similar to Mike Ring's suggestion:

Program: Monitor Off
Category: System Utilities
Sub-Cat: Monitor
WareType: Open Source
HomePage: http://users.iafrica.com/d/da/dalen/monoff.htm
Descript: A simple program that switches the monitor into power saving
mode if possible. Creates an icon on the desktop that can be used to
immediately switch to power saving mode. Includes a feature to enable
the program only during certain hours of the day, which enables this
program in conjunction with the Windows Startup menu to switch the
computer into power saving mode automatically when it starts up, but
only during certain hours of the day.
