Freeware to print Business cards and Labels

My wife has tried printing business cards and labels on Avery Stock using
Word 2000 on my computer and whatever the version of Word that comes with
Office XP on her computer. We use Windows XP and an HP Inkjet printer.
The labels and business cards do not line up correctly (ie. too much or not
enough margins on one side or the other of each label). In each instance
the Label tool was used and the correct Avery Product number was selected.
Does anyine know of a freeware solution that would let her design and print
the business card or label of her choice?

Sounds like you need to align the printer head.

Not a freeware solution, but a possible fix you might try:

In MS Word 2000, go to Tools>Envelopes & Labels>Labels(Tab)>Options>Details.
Adjust the margins to suit your quirky printer and save your custom label
setup.

Ok declare a vested interest. Ex printer.

Don't bother! Just look in Exchange and Mart and see how ridiculously cheap you can buy business cards done professionally.

As for labels Able Label (also in Exchange and Mart) do about a zillion for next to nothing.

Moral of the story - its probably more expensive doing your own and a more troublesome.

Have you tried Avery's free Word add on? Available here:

My computer doesn't crash.
As long as I don't touch the keys or the mouse.

Ragtime Solo has business card templates that are very easy to use.

I use Avery Design Pro, also free, and available on the same page. It
does pretty much everything, and I use it for b cards, labels,
nametags, transfers, buttons... you name it.

I don't know why the Word templates don't work, since the ones in MS
Works work just fine, but if Design Pro still doesn't work right,
there's something wrong with the printer or its setup.
