Anybody know of freeware to convert dvd to cd.

Sure.

Start by going to doom9.org for lots of links and info.

Here's how I do it.

(1) Use DVD Decryptor to rip the DVD to the hard drive.

(2) Use Auto Gordian Knot to convert the movie to DivX format.

(3) Copy the DivX files to CD's.

Notes:

You will also need the DivX codec which is free.

You will need about 5Gb of hard disk space to hold the ripped movie.

The procedure takes over two hours on my 2700 megahertz machine. On a
slower machine you can do it overnight or while you are away on your
job.

If you get into this you will encounter a bewildering amount of lingo
on codecs, formats, utilities, etc. Just start by following these
directions. I have copied over a dozen movies and only one failed
with an audio synch problem.

All freeware.

I've been looking into this as of late. Here is my take.

1. use DVDshrink to cut out any unwanted things like credits, foreign
languages, extras. ect. You also use this to rip it to hard drive.
2. use dvd2avi to convert vob files(the ripped dvd on your hard drive) into
a avi or mpg file.
3. Then burn the files using anyone of the hundred or so burning programs
out. one probably came with your drive.
