Advanced Power Management (APM) can be implimented using menus in the
computer's bios, using windows settings in the control panel, or both.
Yet the bios has no way to tell windows when and why it lowers power for
some/all computer components.
As a result, one might find a lengthy process such as a backup or
download
from the internet inadvertantly interrupted or cancelled because of, say
a screen blanking or other power reduction.
In this regard I would love to find a utility that could directly disable
windows power management (both for screen and other components), rather
than having to go the route: Start --> Settings -->control panel -->
power.
It is also time consuming to access any power management settings in the
bios menus, but I do not believe a windows (or dos) program can directly
manipulate these.
My goal would be to disable these controls before initiating a long
process, where I would not be hitting keys or moving the mouse for
a long time.
Any such programs out there?
