Hello

I have tried various versions of start up disk from Dos and even
windows 98 but Have been unable to find one that will recognise and
manipulate NTFS systems.
Would be very grateful for advice

Thank you

Have look at
NTFS Reader for DOS, if that
is of any interest to you.

NFTSDOS from http://www.sysinternals.com is a DOS driver that can read
NTFS file systems from DOS.

The freeware version can read but not write NTFS files. There is a
payware version that can read and write. There are also versions for
win95/98/me -- again freeware for read-access, payware for read/write
access.
