I would like to print pdf documents and print the black and white
through a laser printer and color through a color inkjet. Problem is,
some pages have both. Ink tends to bleed through the paper, making
the print on the other side muddy. I'm talking about some fanzines
which are mostly B&W text with some color pictures. It would be
really nice to able to do this, does anyone know of any software
(pfreferable freeware) that I can do this with?

Printing B&W on one printer and colour on another is just a matter of
installing separate printer drivers for each machine.

As for mixed pages, I think the only sensible option is to "separate"
your page into two -- one with the B&W in position; one with the pics in
position. Then pass the sheet through the laser printer and the inkjet.

I would seriously consider using a more appropriate paper that doesn't
bleed through. A good 100gsm should do the job.

How would I go about doing that? It would be easy if I were the
ducument creator or if it wasn't in PDF format.

If you've got an imaging program -- eg Paintshop Pro -- that will open
pdfs, then open the page, and draw a white box over the bits you don't
want to print.

Otherwise, this site has got some pdf extraction files that I think will
let you convert pdfs to tiffs or word files etc.
