One can buy Diskkeeper, Home version this month for only $29. Problem is,
the home version lacks boot time defrag capabilities. But there's a free
utility that accomplishes same, or claims to: PageDefrag v2.21 at
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/utilities.shtml#performance.

My question: is this utility adequate and safe? It would seem that page and
registry defrag are fairly simply operations, and there might not be more
than one way to skin this particular cat. In which case, the freeware
utility would suffice.

I've seen it recommended at www.storagereview.com along with contig, which
can also be found at sysinternals.com. StorageReview is where the storage
heavyweights hang out so I'd consider that a good recommendation.
