Sweep and Clean

I'm currently using OE. I guess I'm satisfied with it, but I'd like to try
something else.

I don't use it for email so it can either be a standalone newreader or have
email as well.

I've used XNews for years -- http://xnews.newsguy.com/ It's no longer
being developed apart from the odd fix here and there, but it doesn't
seem to need to be changed.

If you like a more up-to-date front-end, though, XanaNews looked pretty
good when I last checked it out.

Every so often I get an itch and try the latest freeware newsreaders.
40tude Dialogue has lots of promise with the scripting support.
Nevertheless, I keep coming back to the tried and true Xnews. Of
course, this is probably more of a comment on my comfort level rather
than anything else.

Same here...I've tried several newsreaders, but keep coming back to
Xnews.

Yep! Xnews is the ticket.

Not bad, but my ATI video cards (both, the Rage and the Radeon, in two
different machines) don't like its X-Face implementation, and hang the
whole machine - I have to hard reset them, when the feature is ticked.
Without X-Faces, it works.

Ditto; well worth a trial.

Chris, since we agree :-) (and I see you have also donated), do you know
that the current version is 2.0.14?
