Does anyone know of a website that has freeware news on it. Including
information like when the newest versions of software are coming out and
what new software is coming out. For those of you who's solution to
everthing is Google I tried that and it game me a bunch of sites with
freeware newsreaders on them. If you know of one please post it.
Thank you in advance for you reply.

There's a list of sites here:

Have you considered an RSS newsfeed? You can get something like
Thingamablog (which comes with a slew of preloaded newsfeeds) and add the
freeware newsfeeds.

Take a look at-

How do you do that > I tried highlighting and missed your touch! Is it
an extension I need?
No extension needed. In Firefox 0.10.1

click on edit -> find this page
A little "find" box opens at the bottom left.
Type in "freeware" and click "highlight".

In some previous editions of Firefox, "find" was at the top left.

Your news server may also carry freshmeat announcements:
freshmeat.announce.

_Lefty Mills_, venerdì 08/ott/2004:
I set Firefox to highlight the freeware.

Did you set FF to do it automatically when you go to that page?
If so, could you please teach it to me?
Thanks!

Ignore my question, I've found your answer to Barney :-)
(I cancelled my message but it seems still there)

A little tip: to make a search for text, instead of Ctrl+F or Edit+Find, you
can simply type a slash /, then the search bar hides automatically after few
seconds. To make a search only for links, the shortcut is the single quote
'.

The free news server news.individual.net carries it.

As I recall, the group may not be the same for all servers; it probably
isn't standard usenet or something. I vaguely recall that on my Plusnet
account it was called gnus.freshmeat.announce, or something. For those
with Thunderbird, they can always select the speed menu item Subscribe,
and search for the group freshmeat.

The group has a high volume, so you may want to filter it down by
setting up a user account and using the filtering capabilities.
