Freeware MIDI sequencer with VST support - too much to expect?

I've been looking at a number of freeware sequencers, but I haven't
yet found any which offer support for VST. I've picked up a couple of
softsynths with VST install options which I'd like to use.

I know that Audacity supports it, but I'm not thinking of Audacity as
a sequencer. And it looks like the Linux community is quite
well-catered for in this regard, but I ain't one of them... :-(

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Babya Logic Pro 2 has a VST host included and it's free for both
commercial and home use:

Severian, for your own sanity I'd suggest reading this before even
thinking about installing anything with the word Babya in the title.

A search for Babya in this newsgroup using Google Groups will also prove
revealing. Don't have a better answer to your original question I'm
afraid, but thought you deserved a warning...

The VST host works with a lot iof music types-most VST's are supported.
REAPER is also an option-but v0.994 is out now and 1.0 (payware) is
out soon.

REAPER versions 0.4-0.99 are freeware, but starting with version 1.0
the license will change to very reasonably priced (with amateur and
professional rates/support) uncrippled nag-free shareware, supporting
unexpiring full functionality in unregistered form.

Audacity only supports VST effects AFAIK, not software synths.

Phrazor (http://www.sonicbytes.com/phrazor/phrazor.htm), Reaper
(http://www.reaper.fm/), and Luna (http://www.mutools.com/products.html) are
all worth checking out. Prazor & Reaper are "free untill 1.0" ware, while
Luna has a dedicated freeware edition.
