Are there any freeware media players that can replace realplayer
quicktime or mediaplayer from Microcrap.

I dont like the fact the realplayer seems to be calling home.

There's Real Alternative available. You'll need to install Media Player Classic, which I *think* is part of the
download. If not it's available from the same site. You might also want to
install Quick Time Alternative, again from the same place.

I've found nothing as convenient as BSPlayer.

BSPlayer is very clean. I love that player, but it doesn't come with codecs
out-of-box like those other solutions listed.

Sounds like you have a deep hatred and loathing for Microsoft. Why not just
use Linux instead of suffering with software you hate and doing all the name
calling? :)

I classify Real as "dirty", or "not green".

Media Player Classic will cure all your problems. It can even play Real and
Quicktime with the proper CODEC's.

Fair enough. But isn't there a simple all-in-one codec download somewhere?

I'm using Media Player Classic v6.4.8.2. Whenever I download an
audio stream, the program resets my Wave audio loudness to about
half-volume, giving me a lousy signal-noise ratio. I've got to
jump in each and every time with the large Windows mixer and set
it back. Jeesh!!! Why?????
