freeware for datatransfer

I'm looking for a possibility to transfer the data from my old computer
(W98) to a new one (XP).

Do I need a program for this?
Any freeware available?

Go to one of the sites below and look in the File section. There should be
Interlink, and some other programs like Laplink. You will need a special
Laplink cable to do this.
