2. Get the newly developed TrueCrypt (based on the old E4M Sourcecode):
http://www.truecrypt.tk/
Unfortunately the version of TrueCrypt on this site is for 98/ME. The
later version 1.00a only supported 2000/XP apparently because the 98
support had to be removed due to a copyright dispute with another
company.
The original TrueCrypt site
www.truecrypt.org apparently no longer
exists and I can't find a copy of 1.00a anywhere.
This post here

explains the situation:
=====================================================
Ye the thing is this, back in the day you had a program called
ScramDisk.
Then there was E4M (encryption for the masses), Scramdisk was only
written for Win9x and could not work on NT/2K/XP.
The Author of E4M gave his code for the NT/2K/XP drivers to the author
of Scramdisk who in turn gave some of his.
Now, the author of Scramdisk works for SecureStar whom are the authors
of DriveCrypt, Scramdisk code was sold to them.
At present SecureStar who are a bunch on incompitent bullies are
claiming that the code for both ScramDisk and E4M belong to them, and
since TrueCrypt is really a continuation of E4M, it thus belongs to
them.
Now there is a legal warefare between the Author of E4M and the idiots
SecureStar.
TrueCrypt stopped work on there program in fear that the author of E4M
may get in further trouble if the law suit does not go his way.
If you look on the discussion forum alt.security.scramdisk you will
see that TrueCrypts guys say they will start work on it again once
this warefare between E4M's author and SecureStar has come to a halt.
But who knows how long that will take.
Just like Sco Unix (may they all burn in hell) I hope SecureStar dies
a painful death as well

Too bad, I was hoping to get both versions.
