Hi All
Am thinking about installing Freesat HD as a family present. Currently watch Sky in one room with a Panasonic HD ready with inbuilt Freeview in the living room.
There are loads of quad LNBs and dual satellite cables available on eBay and Freesat HD boxes at around £150.
My question is - does anyone know if the Sky minidish can receive Freesat in its current alignment for Sky transmissions?
Thanks in advance

Will ask me dad tomorrow as he is a legend when it comes to anything like this.

I personally am crap.

Sorry folks
Just found the answer on the Astra 2d website. Freesat HD uses
the same satellite as Sky.

Thanks Waynos_Face
Would be grateful for confirmation That Sky and Freesat look at the same satellite group.

Hi All
Have sorted this now. If anyone is interested in Freesat or
Freesat HD - bought a quad lnb and twin satellite cable from
eBay (approx £20). The standard Sky digital dish has a single
lnb with a plastic sleeve that fits into the steel arm of the dish
and secured by a plastic pin.
Had to drill out the plastic pin as the head snapped off, but the
old lnb and liner then came off ok.
Fitted new lnb and liner but it was a tiny bit smaller than
original so packed it out with insulation tape and ran the twin
cable to the Sky Digibox and existing Sky signal was perfect.
Now watching the price of Humax HD Freesat box - all £149
from four suppliers last week and some will not supply if you do
not order their £80 installation package. Then £132 and latest
£115 inc delivery from Martin Dawes and no installation cost.
Will wait until it is not too late for Christmas delivery.
BTW a non-HD Freesat box is £49.

Hi All
Got the Humax Freesat box for £119 delivered from Martin Dawes
. Others at £149 will not sell unless you buy their installation
package at £80. Got the quad lnb, twin cable, F-plugs and self-sealing
tape from eBay for less than £20.
Installed the box in 15min and there you have 144 channels for
free. Unfortunately most are c--p and only BBC 1 and ITV 1 are
in HD. Even more unfortunately only a couple of programmes per evening
are in HD.
Will put it down to investment in the future as our dear PM describes any spending, but at least my system does work!
Cheers
